My First Time at Space: A Story Worth Repeating
Like any true Miamian, which I am not, but I wish I was, my first night at Space is a story I can’t help but retell. It was Miami Music Week, and the city was alive. My best friend, her boyfriend, and their friends were all set for Mochakk’s set at Factory Town, but the Miami weather had different plans. Torrential rain flooded the streets and our initial Uber attempt turned into a fiasco. We found ourselves huddled together after pre-gaming for a few hours, determined not to let a little monsoon stop us.
Not giving up just yet after what felt like an eternity navigating the stormy streets in search of an Uber, we finally spotted a car approaching. We rushed out into the rain, laughter echoing as we piled into the backseat of a sedan that might as well have been floating through the streets of Miami in ankle-deep water.
Once we were cozied in, shaking off the water and exchanging enthusiastic glances, it hit us: this was not our Uber. The driver, a complete stranger, simply smiled and went along with our antics. Rather than panicking, we embraced the spontaneity, eager to kick off our night as he navigated through the city.
When we finally made it to Space, the line was snaking around the building. Eventually we made our way in. As we stepped inside, the atmosphere was charged. From the moment we walked through those doors, the beats vibrated through the walls, the lights danced above us, and the crowd buzzed with anticipation as more people literally flooded in. We kicked off the night with some of Space’s infamous pizza. Yes, I ate pizza in the club, and I'd do it again. We then roamed the levels, mingling with strangers and absorbing the infectious energy.
Time blurred. Hours flew by as we got lost in the music, surrounded by people equally entranced by the hypnotic beats. I was falling asleep while standing up, just so happy to be there, taking in what I could as my eyes fought to stay open. By 4 a.m., we were wiped, having been out in the city for nearly 12 hours. I caught the Brightline at 5 a.m., barely conscious, but the night was worth every moment of exhaustion. I made it home by 7 a.m., still buzzing from the night’s adventure. My first night at Space wasn’t just a story—it was a Miami rite of passage.
The Future of Club Space
Looking forward, Club Space is poised to continue pushing the boundaries of what a nightclub can and should be. With a focus on curating high-quality lineups and providing an unrivaled experience, the club is setting the stage for a new era in Miami nightlife. The reopening is more than just a return; it’s a statement that Space is here to stay, constantly evolving while staying true to its roots.
For the uninitiated, a night at Space is not something you simply attend—it’s something you survive and come out the other side with a story to tell. The club has a unique way of drawing you in, making you lose track of time, and leaving you with memories that feel almost surreal in retrospect. Whether you’re exploring the iconic Terrace or getting lost in the music on the main floor, every night at Space is a journey.
